"Chengdu, an oasis of freedom in the Middle Kingdom" photographed for M le Magazine du Monde

Chengdu, known for its relaxed atmosphere, has become a hub for youth culture and creative industries, drawing young people away from China’s more pressured megacities like Beijing and Shanghai.

Despite increasing government control over cultural events, Chengdu retains its reputation for tolerance and laid-back living, making it a unique cultural center in China. I spent some days in the city try to capture that.

My series "Letters from Shanghai" published on Liberation

As Shanghai has been locked down I have started to photograph friends of mine and other people that I have never met, remotely using a video-call. The absurdity of this project is that we all live in the same city, Shanghai and yet we are not able to meet in real life because of the harsh lockdown that Shanghai is undergoing.

I have asked to all my subject to share their thoughts written in a paper or a piece of their diary, here some part of the portfolio published on Liberation
